Matt Hartig, President of the Hoofer Ski and Snowboard Club, has been awarded the Hoofer of the Month for November of 2009 in recognition of his efforts to bring a Rail Jam to the University of Wisconsin. In a campaign that extended over a year, Matt went as far to receive consent from Chancellor Biddy Martin to allow a Rail Jam to be hosted on bascom hill in the Spring of '09. Due to extremely unseasonal weather, the event had to be cancelled. Nine months later Matt championed the Memorial Union Terrace Rail Jam that was an enormous success. The event made covers of the Badger Herald and the Daily Cardinal and brought a lot of attention to Hoofers and the Ski and Snowboard Club. Hoofer of the Month, December '09 -Barnabé Achard

Our December Hoofer of the Month is Barnabé Achard. Barnabé came from France to spend the fall semester here in Madison. In the past few months, he participated in countless Hoofer trips, including climbing with the Mountaineering Club as well as biking, boating, climbing, hiking, and much more with the Outing Club. Barnabé is recieving this award for his outstanding involvement, great attitude, and enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing a great semester with us!
