Pair Your Passions
Hoofers has plenty of available leadership opportunities - no matter your interests or previous experience in the outdoors.
Below are just a few examples of leaders that have gained valuable real-world experience during their time with Hoofers.
Marie Tuchscherer
Hoofer Leadership Position: VP Administration 2021-2022
Degree: Wildlife Ecology
Dream Job: Conservation Pilot
As VP-Admin, I get to aid council in important administrative tasks while also joining clubs in fun activities like ice luminary building and windsurfing. Leadership positions in Hoofers offer a unique combination of responsibility and learning!
Alec Hering
Hoofer Leadership Position: VP Information Systems 2021-2022
Degree: Mechanical Engineering
Dream Job: Aerospace Engineer
I can honestly and unequivocally say that getting involved with Hoofers has transformed my college experience. As a Mechanical Engineering I never thought that an outdoors organization could benefit my career; however, nothing could be further from the truth. My work with the Ski and Snowboard club gave me critical real-world experience and helped me develop group work skills. Although I will be moving away after graduation, Hoofers - as well as the entire Madison campus community - will always hold a special place in my heart.
Tommy Zalewski
Hoofer Leadership Position: Officer of Diversity and Inclusion 2019-2020
Degree: Community and Non-Profit Leadership
Dream Job: Secretary of the Interior
Hoofers has been my main leadership experience on campus. Hoofers arguably gives students the most responsibility and resources out of any student organization on campus and really encourages new ideas and ways of thinking. I have been able to use my experience in Hoofers to build my resume, gain confidence in development and programming, and understand how nonprofits operate.
